Alaska Republican Congressman Blames The Holocaust On The Jews

You remember that shameful bit of world history we call the Holocaust? Did you know that it wasn’t the fault of Adolf Hitler, the Nazis, or world leaders who repeatedly turned a blind eye to Hitler’s maneuverings like they are currently doing with President Stable Genius?

According to Alaska Congressman Don Young (R-Of Course), there’s only one group of people to blame — the Jews, because they didn’t have enough guns.

Under Adolf Hitler, gun laws in Germany were relaxed quite a bit. as the Nazi Party rose to power, the former Weimar Republic’s total gun ban was replaced by a gun registry and a permit system allowing the ownership and sales of firearms and ammunition.

The system was ineffective, with many still owning the unregistered weapons they purchased (in many cases illegally) prior to World War I. In fact, the gun registry “was followed quite rarely, so that largely, only newly bought weapons became registered.”

In 1938, the Nazis further loosened gun restrictions, allowing the sale of shotguns and rifles as well as made handguns easier to own by allowing anyone with a hunting license to buy and carry them. Local officials were also given more leeway in deciding to allow children under the age of 18 to purchase firearms.

“In my records, I found many Jews who well into the late 1930s possessed guns,” despite regulations that prohibited Jews and other perceived enemies of the state from buying guns, Ellerbock says — but Young blames the Jews for allowing the Holocaust to happen despite these inconvenient facts.

“How many millions of people were shot and killed because they were unarmed? Fifty million in Russia,” Young says in a recording made by Democrat Dmitri Shein, who hopes to unseat him. “How many Jews were put in the ovens because they were unarmed?”

“It is mind-bending to suggest that personal firearms in the hands of the small number of Germany’s Jews (about 214,000 remaining in Germany in 1938) could have stopped the totalitarian onslaught of Nazi Germany when the armies of Poland, France, Belgium and numerous other countries were overwhelmed by the Third Reich,” Jonathan Greenblatt, national director of the Anti-Defamation League wrote in a 2015 piece for HuffPo.

Young made the remarks while advocating for handing guns to teachers — teachers like 63-year-old Beth Jean Dixon, who left her loaded pistol in the bathroom of Cumberland Christian School and forgot about it. The weapon was discovered by schoolchildren, who fortunately did not pick the weapon up.

But hey, whatever. It’s apparently the Jews’ fault that Hitler threw them in “the ovens” because they didn’t properly arm themselves. Anything to push a narrative that no one on the Right will fact check because it sounds like something that supports their fucked-up views that the solution to America’s gun problem is to put more guns in the hands of untrained and unstable individuals who can barely operate a spoon without supervision.
